How to Tuck a Sectional Cover
Our sectional covers come in two linen pieces, one for each part of your corner sofa, so even a large sectional is easy to dress. Tuck them in deeply for a clean, tailored look, or leave them softly draped for a relaxed one. Either way, you get natural linen that breathes, feels good to the touch and gets softer with every wash. And whenever you want a change, a new cover makes the whole room feel different.
How to Tuck Your Sectional Cover
A sectional cover is made of two pieces: one for the main part of the sofa and one for the chaise or corner part. Each piece is draped over its part of the sofa and tucked in rather than sewn to its shape. Where the two pieces meet, both edges are tucked away between the seat and back cushions, so the join disappears. Tucking it in for the first time takes about 20–25 minutes.
Before You Start
- Remove throw pillows and blankets.
- Find the front of each piece. Like our couch covers, each piece is sewn from three panels joined by two seams. The narrowest panel is the front: it hangs from the front edge of the seat down to the floor.
- Place the seams. The first seam runs along the front edge of the seat cushions. The second sits behind the back cushions or along the top edge of the back, where it can’t be seen from the front.
- Start with either piece. The order makes no difference.
What You Will Need
Your sectional, both pieces of the cover and about 20–25 minutes. A flat wooden spoon or ruler can help push the fabric deep into tight gaps.

Step-by-Step Guide
- Drape the first piece over its part of the sofa, with the first seam along the front edge of the seat.
- Tuck it in. Push the fabric into the gaps behind the back cushions and between the arm and the seat.
- Let the sides fall straight down to the floor.
- Drape the second piece over the other part of the sofa in the same way.
- Join the two pieces at the corner. Tuck both edges deep into the gaps between the seat and back cushions, so the join can’t be seen.
- Smooth the skirt along the front of the seat and straighten the hem along the floor.
- Finish the back. If the back of the sofa is on show, tuck the fabric neatly behind the back cushions. If the sofa stands against a wall, you can leave it loose.
- Add your cushions.

After. The same sofa in its new linen cover.
At the arm. Smooth the fabric over the arm and let it fall to the floor.
Where the pieces meet. Both edges are tucked deep between the cushions, so the corner looks like one cover.
Along the chaise. Straighten the hem so it rests evenly on the floor.
Add your cushions, and it’s done.
Tailored or Relaxed?
For a crisp, tailored look, tuck every step deeply. For a softer, more relaxed look, tuck in only the corner and the back, and let the fabric fall loosely at the arms and along the front.
Good to Know
- The cover may loosen with everyday use. Just re-tuck the gaps now and then, especially at the corner where the two pieces meet.
- The cover is easy to take off and machine wash, which makes it a practical choice for homes with pets. See our Linen Care Guide for washing tips.

- For a crisp, tailored look, iron the cover before putting it on, or smooth it in place with a handheld steamer.
